Z Island, the southernmost tip of Japan. Miwako, an investigator, comes to this island alone in pursuit of a series of disappearances of high school girls on the mainland. She was greeted by Oki, a local investigator, but perhaps because of the slow flow of time on the island, Oki didn't seem nervous.
